PARTNRS Community Spotlight: Fair Haven Community Health Center

The Fair Haven Community Health Center has been a nonprofit organization since 1971, serving the New Haven community.  The health center is comprised of numerous physicians and nurse practitioners that are eager to serve the healthcare needs of their patients.  Their goal is “to serve the community in a manner that respects their culture, language and ethnic beliefs. “  When they use the term community, they imply from the littlest child to the oldest elder.  Everyone is welcomed to the Fair Haven Community Health Center.  Adults can receive checkups, physical exams, cancer screening, as well as chronic disease screenings.  Specialists are also available for patients.  FHCHC especially encourages adolescents to visit for all their health needs.

FHCHC also provides extensive prenatal care, including prenatal visits, delivery by the midwife at the Hospital of St. Raphael, a home visit by a midwife after the delivery, and post-partum care.  Social services are also available to help patients with housing, personal, and financial problems.  FHCHC also administers STD testing.  The Fair Haven Community Health Center main site is open Monday through Thursday 8:45 AM to 8:30 AM.  The Friday schedule is 1:00P M to 5:00 PM.  For more information in regarding the center, log onto www.fhchc.org!

Here at PARTNRS, we’d like to thank FHCHC for providing young couples and families in New Haven with affordable health services, and for contributing to the fight against STDs and HIV!
